SENIOR AUTHOR: PRINCE ANDREI RAȚIU
One of the most beloved, valuable and appreciated teachers of classical ballet and flamenco is the charismatic Romanian ballet dancer Florin Chirițescu a well-known name in the field of international professional ballet, recognized for his unique talent, excellent Vaganova technique and original interpretation, giving himself in an exemplary mode of each role.

At the age of 14, Florin Chirițescu was admitted to the „Floria Capsali” Choreography High School in Bucharest, where he was lucky enough to work with the former ballerina of the National Opera, the famous Daniela Tebeică, the teacher who became his mentor and helped him to train as an artist. Also, distinguished classical ballet master Rosemarie Bot Stocec played a special role in his professional development, to whom the young dancer publicly thanks whenever he has the opportunity.

After graduating from high school, Florin Chirițescu competed for a training scholarship at the „Maria de Avila” Superior Dance Conservatory in Madrid, part of the Royal Spanish Dance Conservatory, where he was accepted immediately, surprising everyone with his technique and his agility is out of the ordinary.

Here, in order to become a teacher, Florin Chirițescu studied pedagogical methods for almost all dance styles: classical ballet, character dance, contemporary dance, flamenco, etc., with world-renowned teachers such as Juan Giuliano, Jose Carlos Martinez, Monique Loudieres and Virginia Valero. In the last nine years, he has been permanently invited to various dance schools to hold workshops on the Vaganova technique, which he impeccably acquired from his teacher, a graduate of the „Vaganova” Russian Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, technique of classical ballet in which Florin Chirițescu performs impeccably.

Master Florin Chirițescu always wins the hearts of his students with his formidable talent to instill confidence in them and their powers and qualities, with his absolute dedication and patience to explain and guide their career steps in the most professional way possible.
These facts recommend Florin Chirițescu to be assigned by the Bucharest Municipal High School Inspectorate and the Ministry of Education to take over the managerial leadership of one of the prestigious choreography high schools in Romania, some of which are currently seriously failing due to the lack of involvement and pedagogical dedication of some of those who lead the young students to disaster.

Within the fiercely passionate and erotically charged realm of flamenco, a magnetic force has materialized in the figure of Florin Chirițescu His presence transcends mere instruction, igniting a primal sensuality that scorches the gaze and leaves audiences breathless.
A graduate of the esteemed Floria Capsali Choreography High School in Bucharest and the hallowed halls of the “Maria de Avila”– Superior Dance Conservatory” in Madrid, part of Spain’s Royal Dance Conservatory, Chirițescu arrives steeped in both rigorous discipline and smoldering artistry. This potent fusion, now channeled into his devoted teaching at the Victoria Dance Academy in Bucharest, positions him as a catalyst, poised to ignite a firestorm in the world of dance.
Beyond the pulsating rhythms of flamenco, Chirițescu’s expertise extends to the foundational principles of the Vaganova technique, a bedrock of classical ballet. This dual mastery reveals a profound understanding of the body’s expressive potential, a knowledge he undoubtedly imbues with his own visceral heat.
For those fortunate enough to find themselves within his orbit, Chirițescu’s instruction promises not only technical brilliance but an awakening of their own dormant passions. His very being, a potent blend of sculpted grace and raw magnetism, suggests a pedagogical encounter that transcends the purely academic, venturing into the intoxicating territory of embodied desire and artistic ecstasy.
To be in his class is not merely to learn; it is to be consumed by the flame.

Now, dear readers, I present to you below an interview I did on February 2025 with Master Florin Chirițescu exclusively for New York Star Magazine TV & America’s News.

⚜️ Prince Andrei Rațiu: What does it mean for you to work daily with students?
Florin Chirițescu: “To be honest, I prepared myself for the stage, I never thought I could end up teaching so young (I’ve been teaching since I was 18), but a long time ago I received certain hints from my ballet teacher, Rose Marie Bot Stocec, and I owe her for this, that this option should also exist for me. Teaching dance, whether it is classical, folk or character dance, the responsibility is much greater than that of a dancer, for the simple reason that the teacher is 100% responsible for the artistic and professional development of each student. If the students with native data fail, you as a teacher fail along with them, because there was a break between the teacher and the student. I totally agree, that when a child does not have native data for classical dance or there is a teacher-student conflict, that child should either be moved to another class, or give up classical dance.”

⚜️ Prince Andrei Rațiu: What qualities must a teacher/ballet master have in order to inspire confidence in his students, to be loved by them and to be able to lead them to success?
Florin Chirițescu: “First of all, patience, you must have iron patience at the time of delivery. You can’t get angry in front of children. The students are not to blame, if the nerves are not created by them, for the teachers’ frustrations and troubles. Secondly, you are not just a professor, you are a pedagogue, directly responsible, as I said above, for the total development of those students. You, as a professor, sometimes end up spending more time with them than the parents, and I think this speaks for itself. I think it is necessary for any classical dance teacher to have the so-called “eyes” to be able to correct each student, to remain impartial and to defend all students in delicate moments, otherwise we are simple public or private officials.”

⚜️ Prince Andrei Rațiu: What do you like to teach more, classical ballet or flamenco?
Florin Chirițescu: “Hard to answer, both. I can’t say that I like classical or flamenco dance more. Each of these two styles are totally different. Classical dance requires a certain preparation and discipline, and so does flamenco. I teach both with the same pleasure and dedication, being very attentive to details and corrections. I emphasize feeling the movement, not doing the movement robotically. To be able to feel the movement, you must first of all feel the music, and to be able to feel the music, you must have an excellent musical ear, everything is cyclical in dance, one condition cannot exist without the other.”

⚜️ Prince Andrei Rațiu: What exactly did you teach in Madrid, Spain?
Florin Chirițescu: “In Madrid I had the opportunity to teach classical dance, the Vaganova method (I was taught this method by Rose Marie Bot Stocec, who herself perfected it at the Vaganova Academy, in Ninel Gurkapkina’s class), but my main role in Madrid was to perfect myself in teaching classical, character and flamenco dance. Returning to the country, I started to share everything I learned with the students from Victoria Dance Academy, unfortunately in the Choreography High School in Bucharest, there is no place to teach. But to remind you, the real purpose with which I went to Spain was to improve myself. I was the only Romanian ever admitted to the Dance Conservatory in Madrid and I had wonderful experiences and teachers. I got the chance to study with Virginia Valero, the classical Cuban dance technique, with Stephane Phavorin, Monique Loudieres, Jose Carlos Martinez and Juan Guliano. Especially from Juan Giuliano, who was Nijinsky’s sister’s student, I learned a lot about the methodology of teaching and applying classical dance, but also what it means to truly transmit and how to inspire young dancers. I also managed to perfect myself in flamenco, with Manuela Carrasco, a teacher and dancer famous in Spain, for her dedication and talent. Although she was very strict, she conveyed her love and loyalty for flamenco in every second.”

⚜️ Prince Andrei Rațiu: If you were to become the director of the Floria Capsali Choreography High School in Bucharest or even another choreography high school in Romania, what would you change immediately? What changes do you think should be made in the education system in this regard?
Florin Chirițescu: “I started to sigh, because there are many changes to be made. We can say that the last director that the Floria Capsali Choreography High School had and shone was Esther Magyar. From my point of view, and here I will put a lot of people in my head, you cannot be a high school principal, but you are not a specialist teacher and you don’t know how this thing works. If not knowing how it works in classic, you won’t be able to help in any way. There are many subjects that must be studied by future ballerinas, from anatomy applied to dance, music applied to dance, biomechanics to psychology applied to dance. There are many things to reform, the teaching program, the adjustment of the classes from the point of view of the teachers’ specialization… The most changes from my point of view should be made in the reconfiguration of subjects and classical dance classes, the way of teaching, exactly as Claude Bessy did at the Ballet School of the Paris Opera, in Madrid I had the honor of meeting masters from the Paris Opera and I learned a lot about it.”

⚜️ Prince Andrei Rațiu: What advice do you have for children/young people who want to become ballet dancers?
Florin Chirițescu: I think the most important advice would be to listen to your class teacher. To absorb everything like a sponge and put it into practice. To study by themselves as much as they can and not only practically but also theoretically. To read and document themselves, as much as they can, in relation to the art they practice and other adjacent ones, because they are not athletes, they are artists, the culture of an artist makes him stronger. Lastly, I advise them not to take a failure as a defeat but as a lesson, usually from failures we learn and become stronger. We cannot let ourselves be defeated at the first lost battle, head up and VIVA LA DANZA”!

⚜️ Prince Andrei Rațiu: Tell me a funny incident that happened on stage or behind the stage before or after your performance in a show.
Florin Chirițescu: “I would have two, the first would be when I went on stage for the first time and because of the emotions I forgot the choreography and if I remember correctly, I said Ohhh! Liver!! and I quickly ran from the stage, I didn’t know what was happening to me and the second time, when I broke my leg, I was in the ballet hall of the Opera House, I had repertoire classes, I thought it was a sprain, I didn’t realize that it was something serious and I continued to dance for around 2 hours. The big surprise happened in the locker room, when I realized that I had half an orange under my ankle, since then, unfortunately, my dancing career has ended, thanks to a “clever” doctor who thought that the whole leg should be immobilized, not with a splint.”

For over twelve years, Master Florin Chirițescu has been teaching flamenco, classical ballet and character dance at renowned dance schools. He is currently teaching at the Victoria Dance Academy in Bucharest.

Drawing the curtain on this exploration of Florin Chirițescu’s incandescent artistry, one is left with a profound appreciation for the confluence of raw talent, disciplined rigor, and an impassioned spirit that defines this remarkable master.
His fiery interpretations and nuanced understanding of both classical ballet and the visceral language of flamenco mark him as a uniquely gifted pedagogue, capable of igniting within young aspirants not merely technical proficiency, but a genuine love for movement as a profound form of expression.
Therefore, i advise those entrusted with nurturing the artistic development of the next generation: seize this unparalleled opportunity. Enroll your children at the Victoria Dance Academy in Bucharest, Romania and allow them to be guided by the incandescent flame of Maestro Chirițescu. Here, under his tutelage, they will not simply learn steps; they will embark on a transformative journey, cultivating discipline, grace, and an enduring appreciation for the sublime power of dance.
The future of this venerable art form lies in the hands of those who dare to be inspired, and Florin Chirițescu stands as a beacon, ready to illuminate their path.
