PRINCE ANDREI RAȚIU AND MARTIN SCORSESE VISITED BABY JOHN DELUTRO
The famous Caffe Palermo and Baby John’s Pizzeria in Little Italy, 148 Mulberry St, New York are well known for the large number of Hollywood music and film stars, as well as high-ranking politicians who frequent the establishment. They are all lifelong friends of legendary owner Baby John DeLutro aka “The Cannoli King”. He also starred in several Hollywood films alongside some of these great actors.
Thus, two weeks ago, on a beautiful Saturday evening, Baby John received a visit from two of his best friends, the great Hollywood film director Martin Scorsese and Prince Andrei Prisecaru Rațiu, a blood descendant of illustrious princely and noble families in Europe who lives in New York and has his business and professional career in the United States. A relaxing evening, smiles, laughter, jokes and Mulberry red wine until late into the night.
Martin Charles Scorsese is an Italian-American filmmaker, one of the major figures of the New Hollywood era, he has received many accolades, including an Academy Award, four BAFTA Awards, three Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award, and three Golden Globe Awards. He has been honored with the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1997, the Film Society of Lincoln Center tribute in 1998, the Kennedy Center Honor in 2007, the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2010, and the BAFTA Fellowship in 2012. Four of his films have been inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant”.
Prince Andrei Rațiu is known in Little Italy in Manhattan NYC for his solid and unwavering friendship with the great John DeLutro, the two collaborating masterfully.

Mulberry Red Wine is one of the best and most natural wines on the American market, which is produced in Tuscany, Italy.

Born in Little Italy, Manhattan, New York City, to both Italian-Sicilian parents, Chef Baby John DeLutro knows very well that Italian cuisine is the expression of the culinary art developed in Italy over the centuries, including the deep-rooted traditions common to the entire peninsula, as well as the whole of all regional gastronomies, in a continuous exchange: many Italian dishes that were once known only in the regions of origin have spread over time throughout the country
Italian cuisine is known as a classic example of the Mediterranean diet, recognized as an intangible heritage of humanity by UNESCO in 2010. In addition, it is one of the most famous and appreciated gastronomies globally.
Italy is also famous for the production of olive oil, cheeses, cold cuts, wines, fruits and sweets, which are found as ingredients in the over 5300 products of the Italian regional culinary traditions.
The staple foods of Italian cuisine are olive oil, the main condiment par excellence in Italian cuisine, fresh daily wheat bread, pasta, vegetables, and wine.
Coffee, espresso or mocha, is considered an indispensable element in the Italian food tradition, being used both to end the meal and to be consumed on its own at other times of the day.

Italian-American cuisine in New York reflects the diverse regional origins of the Italian immigrants who settled here.
Immigrants from different regions of Italy often shared their regional recipes, leading to a fusion of flavors and culinary traditions.
This resulted in regional variations within the broader Italian-American cuisine of New York.

Chef Baby John DeLutro believes that Italian food in New York has been significantly adapted to meet the preferences and availability of local ingredients, resulting in the creation of unique dishes like spaghetti and meatballs. This adaptation includes substituting ingredients, like using eggplant instead of meat, and creating dishes that are tailored to the American palate.

Italian cuisine, with its rich flavors, aromatic ingredients, and centuries-old techniques, has woven itself into the fabric of American culture. From Naples and Sicily to the heart of American cities like New York is a tale of adaptation, innovation, and passion. At Baby John Pizzeria and Restaurant on Mulberry St in Little Italy, Manhattan, New York City, in where modern Italian cuisine meets classical techniques, John DeLutro celebrate this remarkable history by offering a menu that respects tradition while embracing local influences.
